Not for Sale (Black Ladder Book 1)Owen
I thought the old lady in the crumbling shack next door was a nightmare. Turns out the granddaughter who inherited the home is worse. Isabella Holt is putting more than a wrench in my plan to knock the place down and build a spectacular multimillion-dollar home. Her refusal to sell to me from a foolish desire to live in that heap has pushed me to my limit. I want her renovation scheme to fail, but she’s more capable than I expected. Even worse, she’s invading my thoughts with the way she wears both steel-toed boots and high heels, as if she was born to drive me mad. When my Alzheimer’s-ridden Pops compares Izzy to my angelic late mother, I know it’s time to get her off my street for good. She won’t be the reason I don’t achieve my goal. Isabella I don’t think it was intentional for Gran’s inheritance to be more of a nightmare than a blessing. I have to believe it was her way of helping me keep our family memories alive. Unfortunately, along with this dilapidated mess of a house, she left me the harassing next-door neighbour and home developer, Owen MacLeod. It doesn’t end with living beside this broody, woman-hating control freak—I have to decide if I want to borrow more money than I’ll ever be able to pay back to finish this renovation . . . or if I should sell my soul to the devil across the fence. He won’t be the reason I can’t have my dream. This steamy enemies-to-lovers, happily ever after romance, is the first in the four-book Black Ladder series. Due to its content, it is intended for mature readers. Add Not for Sale to your Goodreads TBR! Very interesting read, and I’ve been a sucker for a good enemies to lovers book since I started reading. But, the character development made this book that much amazingly better! Not to mention the effort put into the side characters development were just as strong as the main characters.
Between Owen dealing with past issues along with family health concerns, striving to make his father proud was his main focus. Until he meets Izzy when trying to purchase her families home.
Izzy has dealt with a tragic loss when inheriting her grandmother’s home that was filled with so much love, and Owen is wanting to tear it down. But, financially issues arise that put Izzy in a bind.
The depths at which these characters are forced into to maintain their individuality makes for one hell of a fun time. Dealing with such loss and tragic despair in the midst of what could be the most exciting new relationship, will have you anxiously turning the page.
